How many chess pieces come in a chess set?

A chess set comes with two sets of pieces. Each set contains: 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, a king and a queen. Generally the two sets are made from opposing colors.

What is a chess clock?


A chess clock is a device used for timing the moves of each player in a chess game. They are primarily used in tournaments and club matches. These clocks come in both analog and digital formats.

What is the difference between chess and checkers?


Both games use the same game board but the pieces are very different. Checker pieces are round, flat pieces of usually plastic, but can be made from other things as well. The game rules and method of play are also different.

What is electronic chess?


Electronic chess is a computer-operated device designed to allow for player vs. player, or player vs. computer. They range from about $50 - $300, depending on the model. These devices are becoming more and more popular.
