Chess Rules

Chess rules may at first seem complicated, but the basics of the game are not difficult. The ultimate goal is to capture your opponent's king. This is called "checkmate."

The most important of the chess rules is that each piece on the board can only move by the approved method for that piece. Strategy must be used with regards to these movements in order to capture opposing pieces and eventually trap your rival's king. Thinking ahead is important!

Basic chess rules state that white always goes first. From there the players alternate, moving one piece per turn. The game continues in this manner until a checkmate is achieved.
