Chess Clock
A chess clock is most often used in tournament play and
club matches. Most games are limited in time in these settings, and
each player must complete each move within a specified period of time.
Most serious chess players have a clock.
The chess clock is designed to keep track of time for two different
players. When one player has finished his or her move, they push the
button on their side, and which stops their time and starts their opponents.
The players go back and forth like this until the game is won, or time
elapses.
A chess clock can come in both analog and digital formats. Most chess
tournament rules indicate that all the features of the clock being used
are explained to the owner's opponent before the game starts. This is
particularly important with newer digital clocks.
